“katy erin nails it -
confident, cinematic, and impossible to ignore.”

- perspective

Katy Erin is a television writer, actor, filmmaker, and musical artist.

She was born and raised in a small town in central Texas, which perhaps contributed to her early passion for the art of escapism. After spending her formative years taking drama club and marching band much too seriously, she moved to Austin to study filmmaking at the University of Texas before graduating and relocating to Los Angeles.

Named a “Must-Hear” by Kickdrum, Katy Erin’s music has been described as being “rich in dynamic versatility, equally sultry and swaggery with wades of pop intersected between creative fits.” Most recently, she released her single Battle Chatter, which was praised by HypeHub as having "movie-like tension that feels both raw and carefully crafted," while We Write About Music called it "a masterclass in songwriting." This release, characterized by its dark pop sound with elements of trip hop and a tinge of grunge, serves as the lead single for her upcoming EP of the same name. This follows the sultry, chamber-pop sounds of her previous hit single Blush. In 2024, she released her debut EP, Coffee & Cigarettes, an eclectic collection of music and exploration of style, all of which she wrote, composed, and co-produced. The EP showcases Katy’s genre-bending tendencies, unique vocals, and poetic (and often tongue-in-cheek) lyrics.

In television, she was most notably a member of the writing staff for Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer for seasons 2 through 5, after appearing as Lara Elliot, AKA “The Girl in the Game,” in season one. She also starred in the indie feature Millennium Bugs, in which her performance was described in reviews as “raw, honest,” and “captivating.” Other on-screen credits include Shameless (Showtime), Wisdom of the Crowd (CBS), and the starring role of it-girl Edison in all three seasons of the cult queer comedy webseries Gal Pals. As a screenwriter and filmmaker, she has collected accolades from some of the most prestigious competitions and festivals including Launchpad, Austin Film Festival, Etheria, and many more. Her years of television experience include assisting in the development and production of shows for CBS, SyFy, The CW, Netflix, and Disney.
